It's Time

Three tickets for the expired tags in 6 weeks, 2 in the last three days.

Jeff City has a lien out on the property.

It's time.

It's time to deal with all this shit--it's time to get help for the tax stuff is above my head. It's time to get work somewhere doing something solving someone's problems and being creative for pay. Cause if I don't I will be as much of a failure as my mother's mother. That shames me, that I'm as fucked up as she was.

These songs are really birds of a feather--separated by music style and decades of time but they are the same thing.

The worst thing is it's the weekend--some parts of this program have to wait until Monday to do.

Time to face the music.

Your Love Never Fails

Like this song quite a bit..
.

No promises that everything is going to be peachy keen here on earth, just a promise that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

By Faith

A strong contemporary hymn...

Hymn like in its verses and structure--contemporary in music, yet reasonably easy to sing. Nice work!

Discouraging

I've had to fight being discouraged on the job front.

One article I read said that if you've been unemployed for six months, you are considered "unemployable."

Another says that if you've been fired, no one will hire you.

A third says never say you were fired. (However, they offered no alternative way to deal with the issue!)

But I'm too young to retire!

"Too Old To Work Too Young To Retire"--how ridiculous is that?

Dr. Alvin Lawhead

I doubt Adam Hamilton ever met Dr. Alvin Lawhead.

I suspect they would have gotten along very well.

Twice during today's sermon (which I am going to soak in one more time because it is just what I needed--and need--to hear) Pastor Hamilton read verses that contained the translation "steadfast love" and I heard Dr. Lawhead in my head talking about the Hebrew word "chesed" (or "hesed" as it is sometimes rendered) and how hard it is to translate into English. "Steadfast love" is one of the most common translations you will see of this complex word, used in the Old Testament to describe the love of God that never quits. Here's a page on "chesed" I found using Google--I think I recognize the author's name from Jeremiah class.

It's not just mercy or grace or kindness or love or wishing well or devotion--it is all of these wrapped up in one, done in relationship to one partner that really, at bottom, does not deserve the care contained in the word. Like the Hebrew people, who ignored the calls of the prophets to repent and return to the LORD God.

Like us today, who do not obey the calls of God to come to repentance for our sins.

It's still there, God's "chesed"--it has never left.

My City in Ruins

When Pastor Hamilton read these verses from Jeremiah:

“This is what the LORD says: ‘You say about this place, “It is a desolate waste, without people or animals.” Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, inhabited by neither people nor animals, there will be heard once more the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, saying,

“Give thanks to the LORD Almighty,
for the LORD is good;
his love endures forever.”

For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before,’ says the LORD. Jeremiah 33:10-11 NIV

Atheism: TKC Commenter Nails It

I've been kicking this around for a while--why generally speaking I find Bill Maher a despicable human being who occasionally makes me laugh--he, as well as so many Atheists are so freaking ARROGANT! Here a TKC commenter, commenting on Tony's link to the Star story of today on FFC gets it just right:

What's amazaing is the pride and arrogance in the story and in some of the comments. If you don't believe that there is a God, then that's faith - and you have more than me.

Peace

Atheists accuse Christians (and others) of espousing an exclusive faith that demands allegiance to a specific theology, yet run around arrogantly condemning people of faith for their faith, insisting that Atheism is the only way to live life.

Drives me nuts!!!!! You want me to act all tolerant and water down the Gospel of Christ, yet you run around making Atheistic disciples that are just as rotten as you are!!!

Listen to your own freaking preaching on tolerance!
